St Louis aint singing any blues

Now i know I am  not the first to admit i would have never imagined seeing the Blues of St Louis on top on the Western Conference and most importantly atop the NHL standings, but here we are nearing the end of regular season play and the Blues are riding high. Quite amazing after what a sluggish start they had under Head Coach David Payne they went 6 and seven and decided to give him the hook and Hire former Flyers and Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock many thought despite this being a good move would not be the "right" move for the struggling Blues squad but ever since that hire the Blues have sky rocketed from the basement all the way to the top with a league leading 93 points. They have arguably the best goalie going right now in Brian Elliot who leads the NHL in GAA and is near top 10 for wins, he was ripped apart in Ottawa and never got the ball rolling and once he got traded to St Louis the smaller market and smaller amount of pressure compared to Ottawa lifted his confidence in being able to lead this young squad.

The Blues have won 4 of there past 5 games and they have scored 3 or higher in those wins so having a young offense like David Backes and TJ Oshie scoring is a defining positive sign that this team has vastly improved and remain a fantastic story. There young defense squad in Alex Peitrangelo (10 goals and 41 points) and recently acquired Kevin Shattinkirk (9 goals and 36 points) have grown and matured and it has defiantly shown. Not to be forgotten wildly veterans Jason Arnott and Jamie Langebrunner while they have not shown there best offensive game they have defiantly mentored and helped out these young players, and that is really all you can ask for from your vets on a young team.

I do not think other than Buffalo (if they make it) that i am more excited to see than the Blues i just know they will be a story in the postseason and that home ice which has been dominant among the best in the NHL is going to be rocking in Missouri. They should change the name to the St Louis Rollers cause they are just rolling along.
